Got The Pieces But Can't Put Them Together?

Some chords. A few riffs. Bits of a lot of songs. Here's how it comes together:

  1. 1

Play every major and minor chord, all over the neck, in 2 ways - without even having to think about it.

  2. 2

Add 7th chords, inversions and Hendrix-style voicings that make the songs you know sound like the record.

  3. 3

Put your chords, riffs and rhythm together in real rock songs, start to finish.

Here's How Come Together Works

Where Your Guitar Skills Come Together

A quick note from me before you dive in.

Hey, it's Will.

Let me guess where you're at.

You know a bunch of chords. A few riffs. The intro to more songs than you can count.

You've put in the time. You've watched the videos. You might even have a barre chord or two that sort of work.

But when somebody hands you a guitar and says, "Hey, play something"... it all kinda falls apart.

I've been there. When I first started playing barre chords, they beat me up. Getting one to ring clean was hard enough. Using them all over the fretboard? Complete mystery.

Then one night back home in Fernie, I went to a jam night. Honestly? I was intimidated. The band was playing AC/DC and Zeppelin note for note, and I didn't know their parts. I nearly walked out the door.

But I knew my barre chords. I knew my 7th chords. So I stayed, and I jammed with the band.

We played until 2 a.m. Before long I was gigging three or four nights a week.

That night taught me something I've been teaching ever since. You don't need to know every song note for note. You need to know your chords well enough to hang in there with the band.

So if you've ever wanted to try an open mic or a jam night, and felt that same knot in your stomach... I get it. That's exactly why I built this course.

I called it Come Together because three things come together in it.

Your skills come together.

The open chords, power chords and riffs you already know stop being separate things. You'll see exactly how they build your barre chords, so nothing feels like starting over.

Imagine being able to play every major and minor chord, all over the neck, in 2 ways, without even having to think about it.

No more faking that C sharp minor with a cowboy chord that's close enough. No more 3-fret jail.

The music comes together.

Every skill goes straight into a song you already know. Lenny Kravitz. Cream. Audioslave. Hendrix. Weezer.

12 songs in all. And as your skills build, every one of them starts sounding a little more like the record.

The people come together.

This is the good part. Most of what you play when guitar players get together is rhythm. A buddy in the garage. Your family in the living room. A campfire. A jam night.

Years ago I used to rent a hall and hire a backing band, so every one of my students could play one song on a real stage. Watching somebody play a song start to finish for the first time is still my favourite part of teaching.

That's what this course is built for. Songs you can actually play, for real people.

So next time somebody asks what you can play... you'll have an answer.

Keep on rippin' it up.

Will

Meet Your Instructor, Will Ripley

Will is the lead guitarist for Rev Theory and has taught guitar for about 20 years, to more than 2,000 students. He's a graduate of Selkirk College's Berklee-affiliated music program, and his YouTube lessons have been watched millions of times.

Before the festival stages, he spent years gigging three or four nights a week in his hometown of Fernie, BC. That's where you learn what a chord chart can't teach you: how a song fits together, and how to play your part with other people.

Come Together is built the same way. Get the chords under your fingers, then put them to work in real songs.

He also recorded a vinyl album with his hometown band Mount Rushka, produced by Brian Moncarz (The Trews, Our Lady Peace, Philip Sayce). Today he tours with Rev Theory, coaches a small group of players one-on-one through Rip It Up Backstage, and lives in Fernie with his wife Lindsay and their kids, Smith and Venice.

Is Come Together Right For You?

It's built for one kind of player: past the beginner stage, but not where you want to be yet.

It's for you if...

  • You've got your open chords down and you're ready for the next step
  • Your barre chords buzz, die out, or wear your hand out after one verse
  • You fake or skip the chords outside the first three frets
  • You know bits of a lot of songs and want to play whole ones
  • You want to play with and for people one day, even if it's just the living room

It's not for you if...

  • You've never played a chord. Start with Welcome to the Fretboard, then Stairway to Strumming.
  • You're after lead guitar and soloing. That's Stairway to Soloing.
  • You want theory for its own sake. This course is about playing songs.

Never Get Lost - Always Know What To Practice

You get:

  • Step-by-step video lessons, filmed from multiple angles

Frequently Asked Questions

Got a different question? Contact us at [email protected]

I've tried learning guitar before and it didn't stick... how is this different?

If you've been learning from random videos, you've probably got a pile of chords and riffs that don't connect to anything. This course starts with what you already know and adds one skill at a time. Every skill goes into a real song, and it ends with three songs you can play start to finish.

I'm not young anymore - can I really do this?

Yes. Most of the players I work with are in their 40s, 50s and 60s. Barre chords are more about technique than hand strength, and that's exactly what Lesson 1 covers. Your hand will get tired at first. Take breaks. Clean comes before fast.

Is this course for electric or acoustic guitar?

Both. I teach it on electric, and every chord and rhythm part works on acoustic too.

How do I get a refund if I don't love the course?

Email [email protected] within 30 days and you'll get a full refund.

Can't I just get this info on YouTube for free?

You can find barre chord shapes on YouTube. You've probably watched plenty. What you won't get is the order: what to learn first, how each piece connects to the last, and which songs to put it in. That's the part that gets you playing songs instead of collecting shapes.

How long do I get access to the course?

For life. Watch on your computer, phone or tablet, as often as you want.

Could this get me playing in a band?

No joke - this is the rhythm guitar a band needs from its rhythm player. Chords anywhere on the neck, riffs, 7ths, and songs played start to finish with a band track. What a course can't do is the playing-with-people part. That takes reps with real people: a buddy, a jam night, a dad band. The jam tracks are a great warm-up.

How long will it take me to see results?

That depends on how often you pick up the guitar. Go at your own pace, and get Lesson 1 clean before you move on. Everything else builds on it.
